Concerning Cint and Pollrouter

Last Revised: 7 June 2023This Privacy Notice outlines how Cint AB (“Cint”) collects, stores, uses, discloses, and otherwise processes your Personal Data (“Personal Data”, which may also be referred to as Personally Identifiable Information or “PII”) and other information described in this Privacy Notice. This applies whether you are a member of a panel (“Panel Member”) operated by one of our Panel Owners (“Panel Owners”), or a participant (“Participant”) directed to a survey or other market research programme by one of our clients (“Clients”) or partners (“Partners”). Your participation may also be governed by the privacy notice of one of our Panel Owners.
Cint is established in the EU, and the information in this Privacy Notice is based on the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (2016/679), or GDPR, which sets a high standard for the protection of Personal Data. However, depending on where you live, other privacy laws and regulations may apply. This Privacy Notice applies to residents of all countries globally.
Cint, and its affiliates, shall implement and maintain business practices in accordance with this Privacy Notice.
WHO IS CINT?
Cint provides a global online research and insights platform that connects Panel Owners to market researchers, brands, Panel Members, and research Participants for the collection and sharing of consumer opinions and data. Headquartered in Stockholm, Sweden, Cint operates offices in major cities across Europe, North America, and the Asia-Pacific region.Individuals participate in market research on the Cint platform either via membership in a panel managed by one of our Panel Owners, or via one of our Partners who direct Participants to a survey or other market research programme. Panel Members and Participants take part in surveys or research programmes in exchange for the opportunity to receive and redeem rewards and incentives for their participation.
Cint’s Panel Owners and Partners who direct Participants to surveys or market research programmes are Data Controllers, determining the purposes and means of processing Personal Data. Cint processes your Personal Data solely as a Data Processor, at the instruction of a Data Controller.
Your Personal Data may be used for several purposes, which are detailed below, along with examples of categories of Personal Data associated with each purpose. Additional information may also be provided within a specific survey or market research programme. If you require further details, please contact us via the “CONTACT US” section below.
CINT PROTECTS YOUR PRIVACY
Registration and participation in a panel managed by one of our Panel Owners is subject to Cint’s Terms and Conditions. You can access Cint’s Terms and Conditions here.Your participation in a survey or other market research programme is entirely voluntary, and Cint processes your Personal Data only with your consent. Surveys and other market research activities conducted by Cint’s Clients, Partners, or third parties—and any data collected in connection with them—are not governed by this Privacy Notice.
Cint is committed to protecting your Personal Data. We aim to ensure our privacy practices are in compliance with applicable laws, codes, and regulations, as well as the standards of relevant market and social research associations, including, but not limited to, ESOMAR (www.esomar.org) and the Insights Association (www.insightsassociation.org).
HOW IS YOUR PERSONAL DATA COLLECTED?
Your Personal Data will always be collected in a fair and lawful manner, and only for specific purposes. For instance, Cint may collect your Personal Data when you register for or take part in a panel managed by one of our Panel Owners, complete a survey, participate in another market research programme, or via automated methods described in the “WHAT INFORMATION IS COLLECTED BY AUTOMATED TECHNOLOGIES?” section below.Cint collects Personal Data solely for market research purposes.
WHAT PERSONAL DATA IS COLLECTED AND PROCESSED?
The Personal Data that is processed may include your name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, date of birth, and other similar information. Cint may collect Personal Data directly from you when you voluntarily provide it, or may obtain it from our Panel Owners, Clients, or market research firms who have obtained your consent. For Panel Members of a panel managed by one of our Panel Owners, Cint will collect data in line with their instructions.Cint may also obtain Personal Data from database providers who assure us that their databases contain only individuals who have consented to inclusion and sharing of their Personal Data. Additionally, Cint may collect and use Personal Data from publicly available sources, such as telephone directories.
From time to time, Cint may collect Sensitive Personal Data which, depending on your country of residence, may include racial or ethnic origin, health records, financial details, political opinions, and religious or philosophical beliefs. If Cint collects such Sensitive Personal Data, it will always seek your explicit consent beforehand.
You may also submit, upload, or transmit content or material—such as photos, videos, or other similar content—that may contain your Personal Data, for example when participating in surveys or market research programmes. Such Personal Data may be used and disclosed in line with this Privacy Notice, and should not include the likeness, voice, or information of anyone other than yourself.
HOW IS PERSONAL DATA COLLECTED AND PROCESSED?
Cint may collect and process your Personal Data for a variety of purposes, including:• enabling your participation in a panel run by one of our Panel Owners;
• gathering profiling information about you to better match you with relevant surveys and market research programmes;
• contacting you with invitations to participate in surveys or other research activities;
• updating our records of your Personal Data;
• managing our incentives programmes and fulfilling any related requests you make;
• allowing participation in prize draws or competitions (where permitted);
• responding to your enquiries or messages;
• validating your profiling data or responses to surveys and research activities;
• providing you with service and support; identifying and preventing breaches of our Terms & Conditions;
• investigating suspected fraudulent activity or infringements of others’ rights;
• responding to authorised information requests from government authorities or complying with legal obligations;
• in the event of a sale, transfer, or other change in ownership of our business, ensuring any new party treats Personal Data in accordance with this Privacy Notice;
• or for other purposes authorised by you.
Please note that receiving e-mail communications may be a requirement of participation in surveys or research programmes. You may opt out of these communications by unsubscribing from survey invitations.
Cint always ensures that any processing of your Personal Data is lawful. This is typically based on your consent, but other legal grounds may also apply, such as:
• a legal obligation requiring Cint to process your Personal Data even if you withdraw your consent;
• for EU residents, under GDPR Article 6(1)(a) (contract performance) and Article 6(1)(f) (legitimate interests, such as fraud prevention on the Cint platform);
• or any other lawful basis as authorised by you.
WHAT INFORMATION IS COLLECTED BY AUTOMATED TECHNOLOGIES?
Cint may automatically collect certain types of information. Depending on your country of residence, this may be considered Personal Data. Such information includes, but is not limited to, details about your device and its capabilities, such as the operating system, installed applications, cookie data, IP address, network provider, device type, time zone, network status, browser type and identifier, unique device ID (such as analytics or advertising identifiers), MAC address, mobile advertising ID, location data, and other data that may be used to uniquely identify your device. Specific technologies are detailed below:Google reCAPTCHA:
Cint aims to provide a secure and protected experience. One method is by using Google reCAPTCHA (Google Cloud EMEA Limited, 70 Sir John Rogerson’s Quay, Dublin 2, Ireland). This helps determine whether a user is a human or an automated system. You may be asked to solve a challenge, tick a checkbox, or reCAPTCHA may analyse your browsing behaviour to assess if it is automated. Some versions require no user interaction at all.
In doing so, Google may collect your IP address and other Personal Data necessary for CAPTCHA services. This may include:
• IP address
• Referrer URL (the page you came from)
• Loaded resources (such as styles or images)
• Google account information (if logged into a Google service like Gmail)
• On-page behaviour (mouse movements, scrolling, clicks, time spent, typing patterns)
• Screen resolution
• Browser history
• CSS and plugin data
• JavaScript objects
• Cookies
Your Personal Data may be transferred to Google’s servers, including those in the EU or the United States.
To limit data shared with Google, log out of all Google services and delete any Google cookies before visiting our site. More information is available at https://support.google.com.

Cookies:
A cookie is a small text file that stores information about the user, placed on your device by a website. Cint uses cookies for survey routing, fraud prevention, and research purposes.
Cint may also use tracking cookies, tags, and scripts to monitor user activity on our site or on third-party websites. This helps determine interactions with ads or content. With your consent, you may also be shown specific advertising prior to a survey, for market research analysis.
Clients and Partners may also place cookies (with your consent) to monitor behaviour and conduct research on third-party sites.
You may adjust your browser settings to delete or block cookies. Not consenting to cookies, or deleting them, may limit your ability to participate in research or affect your experience. For opt-out instructions, refer to “HOW DO I OPT-OUT?”

Mobile Advertising Identifiers:
A mobile advertising identifier is a string of numbers and letters that uniquely identifies a smartphone or tablet. On iOS devices, this is known as the “Identifier for Advertisers” (IDFA or IFA), and on Android devices, it is the GPS ADID (or Google Play Services ID).
Cint may collect these identifiers directly or receive them from a Partner. These identifiers may be used in market research programmes, or shared with Clients or Partners for research-related purposes. Subject to your consent, Cint may also invite you to participate in surveys or other market research activities that use mobile advertising identifiers to expose you to specific advertising or promotions, prior to your participation.
Cint will only collect or use mobile advertising identifiers if you have given your consent.
Web Beacons:
A web beacon (also referred to as a tag, clear gif, or 1×1 pixel) is a small piece of code embedded within a webpage or email. It may or may not appear as a visible graphic, and often blends into the background.
Cint may include web beacons in email messages to track whether an email is opened and whether any links are clicked. Web beacons may also be used to determine if a participant has viewed specific content or advertisements as part of a research study. Cint and authorised agents may link Personal Data to web beacons for research and operational purposes.
Geo-Location Data:
Cint may collect location data from your device. This information may be used to prevent fraud or for research purposes, such as location-based ad testing or demographic research. Cint will always obtain your consent before collecting or using location data.
Digital Fingerprinting:
Digital fingerprinting is a technique used to collect information about your device, such as IP address, operating system, or browser version. This data creates a unique identifier and is used for fraud prevention or to track participation across surveys, ensuring proper limits and data integrity in line with specific project requirements.
Social Media Information:
You may be invited to participate in surveys via social media platforms. If you choose to take part this way, and provide your consent, Cint may collect certain profile information from your social media account relevant to the study.
Log Files:
Cint’s servers automatically collect and store certain technical data when you participate in a survey. This includes your web request, IP address, browser type and language, time and date of access, and any identifying cookies. This data is routinely deleted as part of normal system maintenance.
Information Collected from Third Parties:
Cint may receive Personal Data and behavioural or demographic information from third-party sources such as ad networks, data providers, market research suppliers, and social media platforms. This data may be used for purposes like validation, appending data, generating insights, or detecting fraud.
WITH WHOM DOES CINT SHARE PERSONAL DATA?
Cint will not disclose your Personal Data to any third party without your consent, unless required to do so by law, as outlined below.If a survey or market research programme involves the sharing of Personal Data with a third party, Cint will only share such data with your explicit consent. If the data is used for statistical modelling to understand trends and preferences within population groups, only limited Personal Data will be shared, and solely for market research purposes, and again only with your consent.
Cint may disclose your Personal Data, profiling data, or research responses to third parties as follows:
• to agents, contractors, or Partners involved in providing market research services (including rewards programmes), provided that such parties are bound by confidentiality and limited to using the data solely to provide services for Cint;
• to agents, contractors, or Partners that work with or on behalf of Cint, for example hosting survey websites, processing data, or sending requested communications. These parties may not use your Personal Data for any other purpose unrelated to their work with Cint;
• to Clients, but only with your consent or where permitted under industry codes such as those of the Insights Association and ESOMAR, and solely for approved research purposes;
• in response to lawful requests by public authorities, to meet national security or law enforcement obligations;
• when legally compelled to do so via formal legal process;
• when necessary to prevent physical harm, financial loss, or in connection with suspected or actual illegal activity;
• in the event of a sale, assignment, or transfer of Cint’s business, provided that any buyer is contractually bound to handle Personal Data in accordance with this Privacy Notice. If no transaction is completed, the third party must erase any Personal Data received;
• or otherwise where you have authorised the disclosure.
Cint may license certain limited Personal Data to third parties (e.g. data brokers or aggregators) for market research purposes. This may include individual-level or aggregated data (such as product usage, website visits, or search history) used to build audience insights or predictive models. These data may be shared using cookie IDs, mobile advertising identifiers, e-mail addresses, or similar means. Following modelling or aggregation, the Personal Data is deleted.
Additionally, identifying data and information collected via automated means may be shared with third parties — such as Clients, Partners, agents or vendors — for re-contacting participants, fraud detection or prevention, database matching, validation, segmentation, or rewards processing.
Cint may retain Personal Data or device identifiers to fulfil your requests or to meet its own business obligations. For example, Cint may keep the e-mail addresses of individuals who have opted out to ensure those preferences are respected. Any retention is conducted in line with applicable laws and regulations.
Again, Cint will only share your Personal Data with your consent.
DOES CINT COLLECT INFORMATION FROM CHILDREN?
Cint does not knowingly collect Personal Data from children who are below the age at which parental consent is legally required. If Cint becomes aware that it has inadvertently collected Personal Data from a child under the applicable age of consent, that data will be promptly deleted from Cint’s systems.
WHAT SAFEGUARDS HAS CINT IMPLEMENTED TO HELP ENSURE THE SECURITY OF YOUR PERSONAL DATA?
The security of your Personal Data is very important to us. Accordingly, Cint has implemented appropriate technical, physical, and administrative safeguards to protect the information it collects. Only employees who require access to your data to perform their duties are authorised to handle your Personal Data.Despite the measures in place, data transmission over the internet and/or mobile networks can never be guaranteed as entirely secure. Therefore, Cint cannot warrant the complete security of data transmitted online and accepts no responsibility for any errors made by individuals when submitting Personal Data to Cint.
RETENTION OF PERSONAL DATA
Cint will retain Personal Data only for as long as necessary for the purpose of the processing activity, or as authorised by you. This retention period may also depend on Cint’s contractual commitments to you (or those of our Panel Owners or Partners), applicable statutory limitation periods for bringing claims, or other relevant legal obligations.
YOUR RIGHTS
You have the right to review, correct, or delete your Personal Data, subject to applicable laws and regulations. Specifically:• Right of access — You have the right to obtain confirmation of and information about the processing of your Personal Data
• Right to rectification — You have the right to have any inaccuracies in your Personal Data corrected
• Right to erasure — You have the right to have your Personal Data deleted (this right applies to data which, by law or regulation, may only be processed with your consent, if you withdraw that consent)
• Right to restrict processing — You have the right to request that the processing of your Personal Data be restricted (during the course of any investigation into your request, Cint’s access to your Personal Data will be limited)
• Right to data portability — You have the right to have your Personal Data transferred to another party (this right applies only to data you have provided)

Once we receive a request, we will aim to provide the requested information within 30 days, provided it is reasonable to do so within that time. If more time is needed, we will inform you within thirty days.
In some circumstances, however, Cint may not be able to grant access to certain Personal Data. For example:
• if providing access would likely reveal Personal Data about another individual;
• if disclosure would reveal confidential commercial information; or
• if the information was collected as part of a legal investigation.If we deny your request for access, we will explain the reason for the refusal.
HOW DO I OPT OUT?
Your decision to take part in a survey or other market research programme, to answer any specific survey question, or to provide Personal Data – including Sensitive Personal Data – will always be respected.You may choose whether or not to participate in a particular survey or other market research programme, decline to answer certain questions, or stop participating at any time. However, not providing certain information or not fully completing a survey may prevent you from receiving incentive rewards or from taking part in certain future studies. Panel Members who no longer wish to participate in surveys, market research programmes, or be subject to the use of automated technologies (including cookies), may opt out via the Privacy Settings page of the member portal for their panel. This page can also be accessed using the opt-out link found in survey invitations. Alternatively, Panel Members and Participants may contact us directly using the details provided in the “CONTACT US” section below.
TRANSBORDER POLICY
Cint stores data within the European Union (EU) and the European Economic Area (EEA). However, as a global organisation, a Cint-affiliated company or unaffiliated service provider may collect, process, store, or transfer your Personal Data outside of your country of origin.The EU and the European Economic Area (EEA):
Cint’s legal entities outside the EU and EEA have entered into intra-company data protection agreements using standard contractual clauses prepared by the European Commission. Cint has contracts in place with service providers and other business partners requiring them to respect the confidentiality of your Personal Data and handle European Personal Data in accordance with applicable European data protection laws.
Russian Federation:
In accordance with the data protection laws of the Russian Federation, Cint collects, processes, and stores Personal Data of Russian citizens within the Russian Federation and only transfers such data to the EU or EEA thereafter.
LINKS TO THIRD-PARTY WEBSITES
This Privacy Notice applies solely to our surveys and other market research programmes, and not to any other product or service. Our surveys or research activities may contain links to various third-party websites that Cint believes may provide useful information. The policies and procedures described in this Privacy Notice do not apply to those websites.Cint recommends that you carefully review the privacy notices or policies of every website you visit in order to understand their privacy, security, data collection, and usage practices. By participating in any of our surveys, other market research programmes, or using our websites following any updates to this Privacy Notice, you freely and explicitly consent to the collection, use, transfer, and disclosure of your Personal Data in the manner described in the then-current version of this Privacy Notice.
